Games are hosted by Internet Archive.

You can play them here for free!

We plan to make donations to Internet Archive in support of their non-profit digital library.

How these handheld games were made:

Every graphic in a game would be laid out in advance on a screen representing every possible movement or action a player can take.

None of the images are allowed to overlap each other so that when a player inputs their action into the game, the screen only shows the single image associated with that action.

The background is just a still image that doesn’t move.

When the machine gets input from the player, it lights up the corresponding image, and you have a game! See an example from the Nightmare Before Christmas game below. Pretty neat, huh?!
