TORMENTA RAMPAGING RUN
Six World Records Broken:
The World’s only Giga Dive Coaster Officially Opens
at Six Flags Over Texas!

Texas thrill-seekers, the wait is officially over. Six Flags Over Texas has unleashed its most ambitious attraction in decades, Tormenta: Rampaging Run.

Opening its gates to the public on July 9, 2026, this massive machine isn’t just a new addition to the Arlington skyline—it completely rewrites the roller coaster record books as the world’s first-ever Giga Dive Coaster.

Whether you are a seasoned coaster enthusiast or a casual park-goer looking for your next adrenaline rush, here is everything you need to know about the storm that just hit Arlington.

Welcome to Rancho de la Tormenta

Tormenta anchors a beautifully reimagined Spanish village section of the park called Rancho de la Tormenta, Ranch of the Storm. Tormenta means storm in Spanish. As you approach the plaza, the atmosphere sets the stage with vibrant banners, festive music, and open-air ride vehicles styled to mimic the traditional costumes of Spanish bull runners.

The ride’s theme centers around a legendary, majestic bull named Tormenta. According to park officials, the storyline honors the animal’s pure speed and raw strength—and you will feel every bit of that power the second the floor drops out from beneath your feet. The name of the ride suggests that you are about to ride a rampaging storm similar to that of running with the bulls, or riding one.

The Tale of the Tape: Six World Records Broken

Built by legendary Swiss manufacturers Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), Tormenta is a structural marvel. A “dive coaster” is known for holding riders right over the edge of a vertical drop before releasing them. Tormenta takes this concept to a terrifying new extreme by crossing the 300-foot “Giga” threshold. Any coaster between 300 and 399 feet tall is considered a giga coaster.

The ride shattered six monumental world records upon opening:

Record Broken Tormenta’s Stats Why It Matters
Tallest Dive Coaster 309 Feet It is the second-tallest B&M coaster on Earth.
Longest Beyond-Vertical Drop 285 Feet A jaw-dropping plunge at a 95-degree angle.
Fastest Dive Coaster 87 MPH Blistering speeds that sustain intense g-forces.
Longest Dive Coaster Track 4,199 Feet Over 4,000 feet of pure airtime and sharp turns.
Highest Immelmann Inversion 218 Feet Going completely upside down over 20 stories in the air.
Tallest Vertical Coaster Loop 179 Feet The highest traditional loop of any coaster type globally.

The Ride Experience: What It’s Like to Face the Storm

The layout is designed to maximize suspense. The experience can be broken down into three distinct, heart-pounding phases:

The Climb & The Hold: You ascend 309 feet into the sky, giving you a panoramic view of the entire Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Once at the peak, the train creeps forward and hangs directly over the ledge. You are held there, staring straight down at nothing but air, for three agonizing seconds.

The 95-Degree Plunge: The brake releases. You don’t just drop straight down; at 95 degrees, the track slightly curves inward, creating a sensation of complete weightlessness as you hit 87 mph.

The Inversion Parade: Immediately after the drop, the train flies into a massive 218-foot Immelmann loop (a partial loop followed by a roll), tears through the record-breaking 179-foot vertical loop, and navigates two more inversions before screaming into the final brake run.

Tormenta just opened, so it will easily be the most popular attraction in the park this summer. Here are a few considerations to make the most of your experience.

Guests must be between 48 inches and 76 inches to ride.

B&M dive coaster trains feature wide, 8-across seating. If you want the most extreme view during the 3-second hang, you might consider a seat on the far left or far right of the front row!

To bypass what will undoubtedly be lengthy lines this summer, look into upgrading your park admission with a Fast Lane / Flash Pass option.

Tormenta: Rampaging Run successfully brings a world-class, record-breaking thrill ride to the Lone Star State. Are you brave enough to drop the gate and ride the storm? Plan a trip to Six Flags Over Texas and see the record-breaking coaster for yourself!
