Texas Rangers Recap – Week of 9/5/25-9/12/25
Texas Rangers Recap – Week of 9/5/25 – 9/12/25
The Rangers continue their winning ways and keep rolling right along. You knew they had it in them, so it didn’t fully make sense to see them struggle the way they did for much of the season. I know they have some pretty serious injuries to key players, but the young guys they’ve brought in and given playing time have really brought a spark to this team much the way Evan Carter did the year they won the World Series. They’ve been delivering some clutch hits at critical moments in ball games to help turn this thing around. Here’s how the week went.
Game Results for the Week
Sept 5 Rangers vs. Astros – Win, 4-3 in 12 innings (Home)
The Rangers edged out Houston with a walk-off double by rookie Dustin Harris in the 12th. Cody Freeman scored the winning run as Harris lined one down the right-field line. Robert Garcia closed it out. This snapped a two-game skid and kept their postseason hopes alive.
Sept 10-12 vs. Brewers (sweep) – Three straight wins (Arlington)
The Rangers swept the Milwaukee Brewers in a three-game home set. On Sept 10, Jake Burger hit 2 home runs and drove in 3 to lead Texas to a 6-3 win. The offense backed Merrill Kelly’s solid outing.
Overall Record This Week:
4 wins, 0 losses
Highlights:
Clutch performances in do-or-die situations: The walk-off win versus the Astros was dramatic and big for momentum.
Jake Burger continues to be a difference-maker with power.
Starting pitching stepping up: Merrill Kelly’s outing vs. Milwaukee helped stabilize the rotation.
The sweep of Milwaukee solidified their Wild Card standing and showed they can compete with playoff contenders.

The Rangers are surging at a critical time in the season — must sustain performance, especially with head-to-head games, and hope for favorable outcomes elsewhere to stay in the playoff mix. |
It’s been another fantastic week for the Rangers! The young players the team added to the roster have really brought some much needed life and vitality to the team. The energy, enthusiasm, and passion they are playing with is contagious and electric. They’re really delivering in some major ways in clutch moments of ballgames, and you love to see it!
For me, the moment that best depicts what the youngsters are bringing to this team is when Dustin Harris hit the walk-off single for the Rangers in the 12th inning of the game versus the Astros, and Cody Freeman came running across home plate with his hand raised in the air. As he crossed home plate, he just kept running to join his teammates in their impromptu celebration at second base where they were throwing water everywhere. Those are the moments you love to see! On the broadcast they suggested it could have been the biggest hit of the season to this point. Those are also the moments that remind you how fun the game can be, and take you back to what was so fun about playing baseball as a little kid.
Speaking of kids, one reporter said they’re already referring to the group of young players as, “The Little Rascals.” I don’t know if that will take hold or not, but I’m pretty sure Bruce Bochy doesn’t care what you call them so long as they keep playing well. Will they live up to and play worthy of a nickname? That’s yet to be determined, however, if they keep playing like this, the next thing you might call them is World Series champs or at the very least contenders. That sounds otay to me!
