What a way for Whataburger to start the year off right! The Monterey Melt’s return to Whataburger ensured that we would have a Happy New Year no matter what. What a great and wonderful surprise to start the year with! In our opinion, it is one of the best burgers, if not the best burger we’ve ever eaten at a fast food restaurant in our lives! This and the Cantina Chicken menu at Taco Bell are the two best things we’ve had from fast food places in the past few years. We are specifically referring to the Stuffed Grilled Cheese Burrito Box they had for a limited-time right after the Cantina Chicken menu’s introduction. The thing they both have in common is that they taste higher quality than what you’re likely used to getting from the typical fast food experience.

We had the Monterey Melt two times last year in two weeks, and before we could convince anybody else to try it, it was gone leaving a void in our lives, a hole in our souls that only a Monterey Melt could fill. We had been singing its praises trying to tell anybody that would listen of its greatness, but then it was gone and we didn’t know if or when it might come back again. We felt disappointed that the other people in our lives might not get to taste and see that the Monterey Melt is good. Well, as the calendar turned to a new year, so too the Monterey Melt came back into our lives, and we were off the charts excited! Our people got to try it and they loved it too, and all seemed well again. Better yet, it seemed like we didn’t have to wait very long for its return after the last time Whataburger brought it back as part of their 75th Anniversary last year (2025).

That’s right folks, for a Limited-Time the fan-favorite legend is back on the menu! In every bite it offers, “warm you from the inside vibes”, melting your heart, and giving you serious thoughts of “why don’t they keep this on the menu forever?”. If you’re looking for a rich, somewhat indulgent experience, shove a Monterey Melt in your face, satisfaction guaranteed. The Monterey Melt stacks two all-beef patties, Monterey Jack and American cheese, grilled onions and peppers, and tops it all off with Whataburger’s Jalapeno Ranch sauce. This is the burger that will ruin all other burgers for you!

We’re not really sure why the Monterey Melt cannot become a regular part of the menu. We think we would order that thing all the time, a lot of other people probably feel the same way too. It’s literally one of the best things we’ve had in a really long time! The Monterey Melt officially returned to Whataburger December 30, 2025, and it’s available for a limited time only, so if you’re considering trying one, don’t wait! No date has been given for when the Monterey Melt goes away, but they may only stick around while supplies last, so get one today before they’re gone!
